Sharon Marie Stephenson Burke, 64, died at home with her family by her side on Saturday, November 9, 2019 in Houston, Texas.
Born on May 14, 1955 in Guy’s Hill, St. Catherine to parents Winnifred Forbes and John Stephenson. Due to the death of her mother at age 6, she was raised by her grandparents Ira and Winnifred Forbes. She was a graduate of St. Catherine High School, Class of 1973 then she went on to attend St. Joseph’s Teachers’ College in Kingston, Jamaica. She taught at various schools throughout the country for 25 years including Holy Rosary Preparatory and The Glen Preparatory School.
She married her soulmate Colly Burke in 1996 and emigrated to the United States. She is survived by her loving husband Colly Burke, her children Theodore, David, Dominic (predeceased in 2007), Khadijha, Camille, Matthew, and Nathan, nine grandchildren, brother and sisters, nieces and nephews, a host of cousins. Dear friends Rowena Eccles-Smith, Bridget Desnoes, Sharon ‘Peaches’ Fray and Vinette Turner-Lewis and many other friends and relatives.
